This year, National day (October 1)  falls close to the traditional Mid-Autumn Day Festival (Oct. 3).  The government decided to combine the two holidays to form an extra-long Golden Week.    Most Chinese factory workers get eight days off, from Oct. 1 to Oct. 8.   Our Shanghai office will also be closed on these dates

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the PRC.   Last week, central Beijing closed down for rehearsals of the parade that will take place at Tiananmen Square but elsewhere the runup to this important holiday has not caused too much trouble.

ODM have pushed forward most of our Quality Control trips in China for 2 key reasons:

  • If Quality Control on products fails for any reason, we need to know now in order to rework products before factories close.   Having a Quality Controller visit the factory allows us to put pressure on factories to finish production on timely manner.  It is important to check the production lines to make sure your product is on the lines in priority over other clients.
  • Travel in China will become more and more difficult as the holidays approach.  Getting train tickets will become nearly impossible as Chinese workers take to the trains en masse.

Our Hong Kong office will be closed on Thursday 1st October, but Singapore office will not be affected.
