ODM‘s Hong Kong office will close Friday (1st July) to celebrate Hong Kong SAR Establishment Day.   For any critical projects please contact our Singapore office on that date.

This public holiday commemorates the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong from the UK to China wich took place on the 1st July 1997  (Handover day). That day the Special Administrative Region was established and it has been a yearly holiday since 1997.

Hong Kong officially becomes a full part of People’s Republic of China and no longer an SAR with own laws in 2047, with potential for new laws and regulations to be imposed by China. Even the lease hold agreements on land and buildings will change. However, given business success of the Hong Kong model most people are expecting little major changes.
