Here is a promotion that should please little girls! Disney has designed a gift pack around the Princess theme. I spotted this promotion in French supermarket Carrefour. The main product is a child’s perfume but the pack also includes three in pack gifts :

A crown
Two Hair Clips
A hair comb

Disney is using three of its famous licensed characters to promote the perfume : Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Beauty from Beauty and the Beast. What’s more the whole pack has been made with bright pink colors to attract little girls’ attention in supermarkets.

The French brand Theo Preiss is an expert in supplying quality promotional gifts with its bottles of Eau de Vie. They are running a gift on purchase promotion at the moment in France whereby for each flask of Eau de Vie bought, customers receive a free set of two cigars. The cigars are even branded with the Theo Preiss logo which makes for great publicity.

However this promotion is maybe slightly less impressive than their last one : a free handcrafted wooden truck that served as shot glass and bottle holder. It came with the purchase of a bottle of their Eau de Vie.

Licensed Characters : Ohwho’s Green Magic Bag

ARTPLUSM created a new animation series, “Ohwho’s Green Magic Bag”, in 2011. The story revolves around two main characters : Ohwho and Nene. The evil grey cloud “moong-keuls” have eaten up children’s smiles. Ohwho (a little girl with cloud shaped hair) and Nene (Ohwho’s little blue cat) are here to help give children back their smiles. To do so they use Mr green Bag (Ohwho’s magig bag that can do just about anything include fly). To each child who has lost his smile they give a “smile pong pong” (magical flying smiley faces).

ARTPLUSM claims this animation helps get rid of children’s stress. They have made 52 x 15min episodes. Though the story is a touch bizarre the drawings are definitely very cute and appealing. One could derive all sorts of promotional products from this series. These promotional items would make great gifts on purchase for companies targeting young children or their parents.

Mashimaro, otherwise known in Korea as the “bizarre rabbit”, has become quite a phenomenon in recent years in Asia. He began as the main character of a series of flash animations on the net and can now be found on just about any type of promotional merchandise. Mashimaro is no regular cute licensed character. Contrarily to Miffy or Booto, he is portrayed as a fat and obnoxious little rabbit and this despite his innocent look. All this is of done with a lot of humor though!

Mashimaro is now licensed by the Total Character Business Company, that we met at the 2012 Licensing Show held in the HKCEC this week. Partner companies of the licensed character can choose just about any promotional product they want to advertise their company. Tokidoki was present at the 2012 Licensing Show held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre this week. Tokidoki is an American design company, based in Los Angeles and founded in 2003.

The brand has created a wide range of innovative licensed characters from Cocomandos and Cactus Friends to Moofia and Til Death Do Us Part. All these figures mix cute with creepy in a highly original way. The brand has become so reputed that they have partnered with prestigious names such as Karl Lagerfeld, Barbie, Levis and Fujitsu.
