Unlike usual beer packaging in other countries, Cass Light used the growing trend of Lock & Lock containers in Korea to their advantage. We blogged about the Lock & Lock pint launched by Baskins-Robbins a while back.

World’s Biggest Timepiece Event- HK Watch & Clock Fair 2011

This year’s HKTDC- Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair is finally here! This 5-day exhibition has attracted more than 110 brands from 13 countries, which includes China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and many more. ODM sent along some staff yesterday to check out the show and find out what is new and trendy.

Numerous amazing and creative promotional ideas were spotted at the fair. We are excited to share with you a little teaser of some of the products that we liked.

An Interesting Promo by KFC

Here is an interesting promo clock by KFC. The French fry shaped pendulum movement captures attention and by showcasing the KFC food and this increases brand awareness and associations.

3 other clocks surrounding the Fast Food Model show how easily customizable this type item is for Tourist Merchandising.

Light in a Can

This light decoration flashes different colors and can be stick on any magnetic surface. With its brand logo and the flashing lights, it is bound to enhance brand recall.

Charlie Hebdo – Gift with Subscription

The French satirical weekly newspaper “Charlie Hebdo” launched an interesting promotional campaign in order to attract new subscribers. All customers who sign up for a two year subscription to the newspaper will receive three gifts. The three gifts are the promotional items, a black t-shirt with a cartoon image and two comic books of sketches from previously published editions.

This is a great promotion to offer to clients in order to get them to sign up for a long term subscription. Customers are always enticed to subscribe for a longer time period for newspapers or magazines when they see a perceived value for the free gifts being offered. In the case of this promotional campaign, readers who are used to buying the weekly newspaper may decide to sign up for two years in order to receive the free gifts which are collector items bringing together sketches from the past editions.

As part of a promotion for subscription, the UK car magazine Top Gear Turbo Challenge has introduced nine promotional gifts as part of subscriptions to the magazine.

The advantage of these gifts is the requirement for subscriptions. In order for a consumer to get all of these 9 gifts, they must subscribe and wait for the first five issues to arrive.

Low cost trading cards are used to start with, working up a beanie hat and rucksack, meaning that most customers will be looking for the latter two gifts, and therefore will need to subscribe for all five issues to get the most desired gifts.

This gives the company five chances to ‘hook’ the potential long term consumers compared to the usual ‘one-off’ consumers who are looking for free gifts, such as is the case with covermounts or On-Pack promos.

There is an increased chance of repeat subscription due to the premier gift being trading cards. This allows for the consumer to start playing the card game while waiting to receive other gifts, and potentially become ‘hooked’ to the game, and therefore may indulge in not only repeat subscription, but also card sales.

By including a stationery set and a rucksack, it may attract parents already looking for school equipment to tempt their children to enjoy classes..
