While passing through French airport Charles de Gaulle, I couldn’t help stopping in front of this highly visible and eye catching apron. The apron was customized with the French flag. It was on sale in a shop dedicated to promoting French culture and specialties.

Licensed Characters : Ohwho’s Green Magic Bag

ARTPLUSM created a new animation series, “Ohwho’s Green Magic Bag”, in 2011. The story revolves around two main characters : Ohwho and Nene. The evil grey cloud “moong-keuls” have eaten up children’s smiles. Ohwho (a little girl with cloud shaped hair) and Nene (Ohwho’s little blue cat) are here to help give children back their smiles. To do so they use Mr green Bag (Ohwho’s magig bag that can do just about anything include fly). To each child who has lost his smile they give a “smile pong pong” (magical flying smiley faces).

ARTPLUSM claims this animation helps get rid of children’s stress. They have made 52 x 15min episodes. Though the story is a touch bizarre the drawings are definitely very cute and appealing. One could derive all sorts of promotional products from this series. These promotional items would make great gifts on purchase for companies targeting young children or their parents.

I hardly need to introduce Miffy, she is such a famous licensed character now. The little white bunny rabbit was born in 1955 and designed by the Dutchman Dick Bruna. Miffy made her first appearance in the bedtime stories Dick told his children. Now there are 123 children’s books about this cute character.

Miffy can be found all over the world now and has become highly popular in Asia. There are hundreds of different products designed in the Miffy theme. All these products would make great promotional gifts for a company whose target are small children or their parents. Here is a fresh idea from the Hong Kong Licensing Trade Show, held at the Hong Convention and Exhibition Center, for vegetable suppliers : The Beet Party by Toonbox Entertainment and Redrover. This is a 3D animated musical-comedy series. Each two-minute episode is a fun short story involving five beet-boxing vegetables. The characters are sure to appeal to young children and even not so young ones!

We believe that partnering with these licensed characters would be a great way for vegetable brands to promote themselves. Though it has not yet be done before, why not turn these animation characters into physical promotional items? They could be made into anything : figurines, key rings, pens, plush toys etc. They would make a the perfect on pack gift. They would be both an incentive for kids to eat your vegetables and therefore an inc entive product for parents to buy your brand over another. After all we all kow how hard it is to get children to eat veggies…

After Christmas is over in France, the tradition is to celebrate the “Fete des Rois” (literally “Party for the Kings”). The “Fete des Rois” corresponds to Epiphany and takes place on the 6th of January.

On this day, Christians celebrate the arrival of the three kings of Orient to Bethlehem. They came to visit and bring presents to the newborn baby Jesus. One the most famous French customs for the “Fete des Rois” is the Galette des Rois.
