For the past month, Total - one of the world’s major oil and gas company, has been giving away road safety kits to motorists who were having a night stop over at their gas stations along highways in France.

A safety jacket
A breathalyser kit
A book with advices about road safety
A free Jacques Vabre coffee voucher

This campaign reflects well on Total as they are seen taking care of their customers as well as their safety. By doing so, the company is creating a positive brand image of themselves and this would definitely lead to repeat sales of their services.

On the other hand, Total could offer these handy items in a small plastic container that can be easily kept in car or motorcycle boots.

The firm could also print their logo on this container or on the safety jacket to ensure brand recall and visibility in the long run. There are different ways to brand a safety jacket and these could include embroidery, foil stamping or silk screen printing.

For Spain’s National Day, we suggest a pin in the shape of the National flag, a bull or even a combination of these 2 objects! Pins are actually a relatively cheap form of promotional gift but depending on the size, it can be easily misplaced. On the other hand, you might want to consider a ham cutting stand to slice your favourite Serrano ham for friends and family. This tool can be personalized with acid etching on it.

As for Turkey’s Republic day, why not customize your own coffee set to enjoy a cup of the home brewed beverage. You can choose to have your country’s flag or date labeled on it. Alternatively, since Turkey is known for their Doner kebabs, a great gift would be a kebab skewer set. The top of the skewer could be easily customized by having it twisted into a different shape or attaching an epoxy logo on it.

With China’s National day coming up too, there will sure to be a Diabolo, or Chinese yoyo, performance put up by jugglers. Labour Day Holiday 2012

This coming Tuesday, the 1^st of May, is Labour Day – a public holiday in Hong Kong, China as well as Singapore. As such, all our offices will be closed and would only reopen the following day.

Labour Day, also known as May Day and International Worker’s Day in other countries, remembers the various protests and riots organized by workers in different parts of the world every other year on the 1^st of May, to fight for better work-life balance and working environments.

This official holiday for workers is usually honored by featuring elaborate military parades but in some parts of world, by political protests and rallies. However, most workers would take this day as a break from a hectic week at work.

Do note that despite nearly every country celebrates this National holiday on the 1^st of May, Canada and America commemorates this day on the 3^rd of September.

Our Hong Kong staff will be looking forward to this holiday as well because it will be a day off since our exhibition at the Gifts and Premium Fair 2012, held from 27th to 30th April 2012. If you are coming down for the fair, do visit us at our booth 3G-G32.

Chinese National Holiday: Tomb Sweeping Holiday (清明节) 2nd-4th April

Next week is the festival 清明节 in China, a celebration of elders and the symbolic sweeping of grave stones.

Because of this impending festival all businesses will be closed next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, however the weekend of the 31st of March will be normal working days.

Ching Ming Festival- possible delays to production and shipping

This can mean disruptions to shipping, production and procurement for the loss of three days.

Please note that ODM Hong Kong & Singapore will be open for this holiday, however ODM Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Shanghai will all be closed for the national holiday.
